Our professional AOE-COE investigators work primarily out of their homes, receiving investigative assignments from the office via email or fax. Once fully trained, the organization of investigative needs is entirely up-to each individual investigator and therefore a self-motivated and well organized mentality is essential for success in this position. Depending on the assignment, the investigator may be required to travel to different locations within California in order to conduct the AOE/COE investigation, which could include interviewing the claimant, supervisors, and witnesses. Other information may also be required regarding the claimant’s injury such as the mechanics relating to the reporting of a claimant’s injury. All of these investigative procedures may require taking recorded statements. The facts of each case are required to be accurately documented in a well written report format, which may differ depending on the needs of each client or the nature of the investigation. Reports are created in Microsoft Word and emailed back to the office along with digital photographs and/or digitally recorded statements. The timely completion of reports is essential, as is the production of periodic status reports. These reports are given to both the clients and the case manager. Because the application of Workers’Compensation Law is an ever-changing process, requiring the communication of any updated information, our investigators are required to stop by the area office to consult with our staff or to receive additional training on a regular basis. Our highly trained investigators are empowered to make better investigative decisions and avoid creating liability for the company. As a result, our investigators become very creative in their techniques and productive in their findings. At the same time, our consistent training program ensures that the evidence obtained is done so in a legal and ethical manner.
Regardless of an investigator’s place of residency, they are expected to cover assignments within their designated region, however they may be assigned investigations outside of their regional areas.
Bi-lingual candidates are preferred, with proficiency in both written and spoken Spanish. Additionally the ideal candidate will possess a persevering attitude, be detail oriented, maintain a flexible schedule, be discreet, have excellent interpersonal skills and have a pleasant demeanor. The requirements for this position include having a professional attitude; thorough understanding of workers’ compensation law and its application; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organization skills; reliable vehicle; valid California driver’s license and insurance. The position also requires moderate technical proficiency in that the applicant needs to have a personal computer; a fax machine; personal cell phone or pager, a personally maintained email account as well as be proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat reader, using the Internet, as well as using a digital camera and voice recorder (including downloading and emailing photos or files).

All investigators must successfully pass a background investigation which entails a Civil and Criminal Court records search, employment verification, driver’s history, drug screen, physical and personality profile exams.
