Imperial County District Attorney Files Felony Workers’ Compensation Charges

On January 31st, 2012, R.J.N. Investigations, Inc. was notified by the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office that on this date they filed felony workers’ compensation charges against the claimant.  In this particular case, the claimant had alleged an injury while working Centinela State Prison.  At the request of California State Contracts, Claim Division, our office initiated background investigative measures. Based on information developed during the background level investigation, a surveillance investigation was subsequently authorized.  In the course of the surveillance, video evidence was obtained depicting the claimant to be performing various outside physical activities in apparent contradiction to the statements made to the treating doctors.  Upon review of all of the evidence, the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office formally charged the claimant with two counts of Preparing a Fraudulent Document, two counts of False or Fraudulent Insurance Claim and one count of Grand Theft.  The preliminary hearing on this case is scheduled for next month.
